Abbott's Spider (£7.50)

A circular block of wood with a hole drilled through is shown and then a length of rope passed through. The block which has a spider painted on it can be suspended at any point on the rope as chosen by the spectator, this can be repeated as often as you wish yet the spectator will never succeed. Nice little pocket trick, could be good for walk about magic toay! (circa 1950)

The instructions which come with the prop credit this trick, which does all the work for you, to 'Hassani'. It is made entirely from metal and was sold in USA by Tannens.

From the 1950's, this little box will switch billets which have been dropped through a slot in the lid. Made entirely in metal, there has been a slight repair made to it.

From Harry Stanley's Unique Magic Studio, this coin trick was very popular when first released. Invented by Bob Swadling and with instructions written up by Ken Brooke, this is a very nice, hard to find item, which has never been used.
Comes complete with a genuine champagne glass.

Block and Ribbon (£18.00)

An early Davenport prop. A large block with a hoile running through it is placed in a wood frame then a length of ribbon threaded through from side to side. Despite beins securely trapped by the ribbon, the block is made to penetrate the ribbon and come free of both it and the frame.

Bloxo - stage version (£30.00)

Five different coloured solid blocks are shown in a box, each has a gold letter on the side spelling the word CRATE. Any two colours are selected and these are the only two to fall free from a restraining rod which secures them all inside the box.The prop is well made in wood and was at one time owned by Faust the world famous illusionist.

Boleno Block Penetration (£90.00)

This is a really interesting prop! Made by Funhouse Magic in U.S.A., circa 1940, it is well constucted in wood and metal. A solid block, dropped into a tall wood tube, VISABLY penetrates two metal plates which block its path and can then be freely examined. First impressions are that this is a 'cross' between Penta Block, The Visable Block Penetration and Jack Hughes Tenni-Pin! It comes with a copy of the instructions which were supplied at the time.
A very clever trick, well made and still in excellent condition!

Bottle of Bacheus (£30.00)

A small size beer/wine bottle is shown to be empty, yet the performer is able to produce three different drinks at any time he so wishes. A pre-war prop, made in metal, this is in good condition for its age.

Breakdown Double Dove Vanish (£40.00)

A box is displayed resting on a shallow base. The lid is lifted and 2 doves placed inside. Piece by piece the box is dismantled and both doves have completely vanished! Exceptionally well made in wood and metal, this prop is in good working condition. Possibly made by Davenports.

A pre-war card sword which has been authenticated as having been made by the German magic manufacturer, Bartl. c1920, the sword is in exceelnt condition. The handle can be detached for packing purposes. Photo available for this veryrare item.

Another old classic trick which has been explained in many books. Four coloured wood chequers penetrate a length of rope. The chequers can also be used in other effects, completewith illustrated instructions.

Cig-a Silk (£7.00)

Sam Berland came up with this method of vanishing a lit cigarette. Simply cover it with a silk and it vanishes! Circa 1950.

Clock Dial (£100.00)

This is a very nice piece of magical equipment. The Clock face is is made from genuine heavy duty Plate Glass with silver numerals. The clock hand is plated and operates on the ratchet principle. This item comes with a set of original instructions by Conradi.

Clock Dial (£110.00)

This Dial is made from perspex and has gold colored numerals. The hand, which is in excellent condition, is a heavy guage metal and nicely plated. This model is the 'Drop Weight' method, and easy to operate with one hand. The dial has a wooden sleeve to protect it in transit.

Cocktail Shaker (£35.00)

This is a lovely prop with a nice red anodised finish. There are numerous variations which can be used with this prop, white silks put in, coloured 'wine' poured in and then the silks removed are red, etc.etc. This prop was previously used by Faust, Granville Taylor, the famous illusionist.

A very early Supreme Magic item. A coin is made to vanish from the bare hand! It can also be made to appear, not a pull and no threads etc.

Coins in Glass (£65.00)

This classic effect is based on Jack Hughes' original tray method. It comes complete with the special tray, small gimmicked whisky tot glass, Pint Size tumbler and the JH insructions.(For guidance only)
it is a very nice prop and quite baffling to any audience, thanks to the ingenious mechanics used.
I am unsure who manufactured this model and am currently still researching its origin.

Cut String Pillars (£25.00)

Origiannly, a Will Goldstone trick, this prop bears the 'Demon' stamp as Davenports bought over the Goldstone business. c 1940. Details can be found in Vol 4 of The Davenport Story.

De Land Automatic Deck (£15.00)

This is a marked deck which was produced back in the 50's. The card value is depicted on he back of the card and is very easy to see once you know where to look! What makes this deck specil is the fact that it has never been opened - the USA tax seal is still intact as is the cellophne wrapper!

De Lands 'Knock Out Card Trick (£7.00)

This is a pre-war packet card trick which first appered in 1908! Printed instructions are included with the cards and everything is still contained in the original printed envelope.

Demon Block and Ribbon (£10.00)

A solid wood block with a hol;e passing through its centre is placed inside a wood frame and then a ribbon threaded through the frame and block. The magician causes the block to come free from the ribbon which is still threaded through the frame. Made in hard woods, this is difficult to date but is certainly pre-war.

Demon Rods (£20.00)

Three small plated metal bars are shown. The performer shows that one has a rattle and then mixes it with the other two. Spectator then try to find the rattle but fail every time but the magician always manages to find it! The trick comes in the original pre-war box and is with instructions.

Der Kopfzerbrecher (£25.00)

This original German puzzle, dates from 1910. It consists of 7 plain brown coloured ceramic 'tiles'. The tiles can be formed into many different shapes, letters or pictures although some are quite hard to do unless you follow the illustrated instructions. This was produced by F. Ad. Richter & Co around 1910 and comes boxed, complete with the German booklet, puzzle Tiles and a 2 page printed leaflet with background information downloaded from the internet.

Diminishing Ball trick (£15.00)

A bright red coloured ball shrinks in size three times before vanishing completely. Nicely turned in wood and painted bright red. With instructions! c 1950's

Diminishing Egg (£15.00)

A full size egg is shown and then given a slight squeeze in the hands when it is seen to have shrunk in size. Given a second squeeze, the egg shrinks to a real miniature size before being made to vanish completely. This is exceptionally well made in wood and is a very rare trick today. No instructions are included but the working will be apparent when the props are seen.

Double Bang Wand (£21.00)

The magician waves his wand which makes a loud bang! This can be repeated a second time. Well made in metal, the and uses toy 'caps' as found in most good toy shops for a few pence. (No caps are supplied because they are classed as 'exposives' and it would be an offence to send through the post!)

Double Flower Prodction Box (£45.00)

This is a very unusual prop made and sold by Inzani Henley who was renowned for the quality of their props. The box is shown completely empty by opening two doors, back and front. Four productions of flowers are then made from the box which makes for a very impressive (and pretty) display. The box is very well made and in good condition for its age (Circa 1960) and it comes with the original spring flowers. If it is to be used for performances again, I would suggest replacing the flowers for newer ones with stronger springs. This comes with instructions rewritten by Faust.

The Elusive Rabbits or Hippity Hoppity Rabbits is an all time favourite with Children's Entertainers all over the world. This is a nice set,in good condition made by Max Andrews (Vampire Magic) which date from the 1960's. A set today will cost more than double this price and will probably not be as well made!

Figures of Foo (£50.00)

This is a very clever effect made by Jack Hughes.
4 plaques are displayed with different numbers on each side which are then places onto a stand in any order. A member of the audience is asked to add up the total value of the four columns yet the performer is able give the correct total before the spectator has finished adding! This can be repeated as many times as you wish with a different total every time, yet the result is allways correcly revealed quicker than the spectator can, een if he uses a calculator!
Beautifully made,the plaques are made from perspex and everything is contained in nice wooden box which will preotct them from damage.

A lit candle is resting on a stand. A silk hanky is lowered into the flame and then pulled all the way through with sustaining any damage! Nice little effect to include into a silk routine.

The Flash Wand is loaded with a small piece of Flash Paper. This is ignited by the built in element which causes the paper to shoot through the air. The maker is unknown but the wand probably dates from the 1950's

A large glass jug full of beer/milk is poured into a paper cone from where it vanishes into thin air! From Davenports with original instructions.

Grants Flying Fish (£40.00)

As advertised in the early Demon catalogues. Two glass cylinders are shown to be full of water, one has a fish swimming in it. The glasses are covered with two metal covers and when removed, the fish is seen to have 'jumped' into the second glass. This can be repeated ad hoc.
NO fish are included of course, you buy these at your local pet store, however, I do not think this would be popular today and is offered here purely as a rare magical prop.

This pack of cards was produced by the USA Playing Card Company for the IBM. they are in the original silver box and are top quality. The IBM motif is printed in blue on a white background with a red border on the outer edge of the cards. The cards are also silver edged and are in perfect condtion.

Magicians Sixth Finger (£12.00)

This 'secret' tool for the magician has been used over the years for many purposes, most commonly to produce a silk in the empty hands. Buy one today and you will get a very realistic looking prop, and you can pay a considerable amount for one! This one will make you smile, it is hard to believe that, when made, this would have been highly rated by magicians of the day. Made from metal and wood, it has it's original paint and even a nail! It is hard to imagine a performer using this but in a gas lit theatre anything would have been possible!

This is a prop which basically switches a card. Made in a nice red coloured Formica by Benny Hindmarsh, it dates from the 1960's and is complete with instructions. (Point of interest: Formica is a product used by Kitchen and bathroom manufacturers and used for worktops, etc. Benny's son was a Sales Representative for the Company that manufactured Formica and obtained all the off-cuts which Benny then used to make props!)

Another invention from Hen Fetch, this is similar to the Hydro Jell glass but is further gimmicked to allow the liquid used to actually vanish! Self contained and beautifully made in plastic, it also has a copy of the original instructions for its care and use.

A spectator is able to reveal a chosen card by looking into this miniature crystal ball which measure about 2" in diameter. A rare item, it is a very practible trick and although old, would still be VERY effective if performed today. Complete with the original printed instruction in a nice protective box.

Plated Rice Bowls (£55.00)

A classic of magic but with superior quality bowls. The second bowl is placed on top as a lid and when removed, the rice has doubled in quantity as it overspills onto a tray. For the climax, the bowl is then picked up and WATER is poured from it into the other bowl making a spectacular finish.

This is a '3 Card Monte' type effect using 3 Tubes and a white ball. The spectator can never find the tube concealing the ball and after several failed attempts, despite thinking that 3 white balls are used, the performer shows why he has failed...the balls are now shown to be 3 different colours! Sold by Unique Magic Studio, this comes complete with the routine. No skill required!

Tea-Ration (£25.00)

This is a rare Unique Magic item! Originated by Bobby Voltaire, a white tea cup is filled with dry tea leaves. A scond cup is placed mouth to mouth with the first and when removed, the tea is seen to have doubled in quantity! Finally, The performer makes tea appear in a cup which can be poured into the other or drunk if he so wishes.
This is in excellent condition, complete with Voltaires instructions.

Who's Zoo (£120.00)

This effect, by Louie Histed, first appeared in Abra. It is a very unusual, visual effect which starts off as a compass routine but ends up with different animals appearing as the story progresses. Originally, it was performed to rhyming patter which needs to be updated but it is still a very strong item. This model was made by the late John Howie of Blackpool, and is beautifully made in wood, formica and plastic. This is the last one of five units which I had. it is the perfect item for an Emcee,
